A La Luz de la Zacan Shoot: Lake Chabot
​


This collection is a colorful, strapped up, romp through the creative up-cycling of our plethora of amazing, abstract patterned fabrics. Many of these swimsuits are reversible, and offer a nod to the uni-sex, and kink complimenting values of Casually Uncommon.

We wanted to create a swimwear collection to be showcased by bearded fem models to celebrate the ever gender bending triumph of the LGBTQ+ community. The queer designer, Annmarie adores wearing beards as it allows her to channel her masculine energy and challenge the viewer to begin to question their own definition of gender and beauty. Dalya accepted the challenge of pushing her gorgeous light through a strong, full beard very similar to her Father's Moroccan facial hair.

This is the name of our collection. A la Luz de la Zacan. It's Spanish and Hebrew combined and translates to "Of the Light of the Beard".

This shoot was extra special because we utilized it as an opportunity to help out our houseless neighbor and friend, Son.

By paying people in Oakland's homeless community to assist with our photoshoots, we
help them build on their resumes, earn decent funds and grant them some hope. As we grow more successful, they will be able to continue working for us.

One of Casually Uncommon's main goals is job creation and we are beyond elated that we were able to help our friend out. He whipped up some epic Italian food and we were able to pay our photographer and models with his delicious creations.

Stay tuned for part two of this photoshoot where will capture more bearded beauties at Oakland's Lake Merritt!

Lastly, I must extend a special thanks to our talented, UC Berkeley graduate, Michelle for agreeing to capture our bearded swimwear. Not only did she capture us at Lake Chabot, but will also photograph part 2 of this photoshoot at Lake Merritt. I am just blown away by her kindness and willingness to help us make art. Thank you!

​Unity Runway Show
​

The Fashion Network Association put on an aw inspiring runway at the stunning Christopher Clark Fine Art gallery in San Francisco's Union Square this December. It felt amazing to be a part of such an uplifting, and courageous group of young creatives in a truly breathtaking space. Shout out to the Picaso's and Dali's hanging on the way and silently blessing us with their approval. Wow! What an incredible and insane show! Note the 12 young designers I brought with me along with the help of the amazing Miss Meguy! I'm beyond happy I was able to share this with them. Thank you FNA and CC Fine Art!
