For Mother's day I took my Mama to this incredible exhibition of Oscar's finest work at SF's De Young art museum. If you don't know, Oscar de la Renta is the dominican born, woman's wear genius who made even the curliest, crazy flower packed garments become treasures. His designs are coveted. Mom and I dressed up in our art viewing finest and took to San Francisco. After which, we ate cheese burgers. 1.I wore my favorite pair of heels 2. 1980's blue satin prom dress 3. The Daisy blazer my friend gave me 4. my neon rubber purse from Thailand 5. My Art Deco matte stone necklace my aunt got me. From the entry way of the museum, to the exhibit. My feet hurt so bad, I took my beatle juice-reminicent heels off while I walked through the hall where they showcased his gowns. This reminded me of the scene in the bible where moses meets god in the form of a burning bush, and Moses removes his sandals because the ground was on which he stood, was sacred. I kind of felt like the Oscar exhibit was also made holy by these stunning dresses. We sell the same skirt you see on the far right, but in white! My Mom got me the coffee table Oscar memoir! Oscar de la Renta has gone to a better place, but his fashion house is still up and running. Behold these epic ensembles! P.S. The British head of the Oscar brand, Peter Copping left the company after only designing for 2 years. Says he loves New York, but must return to Europe...interesting.
